Amorim Cork Insulation Board

Expanded insulation corkboard (ICB) is made from 100% cork — the granules are steam-expanded and bound by cork's own natural resin, with zero added binders, glues or resins. Produced in Portugal through a carbon-negative process, it delivers thermal, acoustic and anti-vibration insulation with almost unlimited durability.

Performance

Third-party lab testing (RDH Building Science, ASTM C518) measured R-3.5 per inch at 75°F mean temperature. Expanded cork is vapor-open — 7.7 US perms at 1" and 2.5 US perms at 2" thickness (Class III vapor retarder) — letting assemblies dry while its unique thermal-delay behavior smooths day/night temperature swings. Density 6.9 lb/ft³.

Sustainability

Cork oak bark is harvested by hand every 9 years without felling the tree, and the boards carry a negative carbon footprint — the EPD declares −2,040 kg CO₂e per m³ (GWP-total, A1–A3). Red List Free with a published Declare label, zero VOCs, 100% biobased and fully recyclable.

Sizes & Applications

Boards are 19.625" × 39" and sold in packs of six (32.29 sq ft per pack), stocked in 2" thickness and shipped from the Austin, TX warehouse. Other widths and thicknesses (1", 3", and 4"–12") are available by special order — request a quote. Use for exterior continuous insulation, in-wall and interior insulation, cork-and-lime plaster EIFS, underslab and roof insulation, and sound attenuation.
