Knee Wall Access Door

FAKRO Knee Wall Access Door is an insulated wooden access door built into the L-shaped knee walls common in finished attics and bonus rooms — available in three versions: DWK, DWT, and DWF60.

What it does

It provides a finished, secure, energy-efficient opening into the unconditioned space behind the knee wall. The DWK carries a 1 3/16" insulation core (R-5.2); the DWT steps up to super-thermo insulation (R-10); the DWF60 adds a 60-minute fire rating with R-12 insulation. A built-in seal in the solid pinewood frame keeps drafts out of the conditioned room, and the HDF faces blend into typical residential interiors.

When and where to use it

• L-shaped knee walls in finished attics, bonus rooms, and dormer spaces
• Where fire separation is required, choose the DWF60
• New construction and renovation — hangs left- or right-handed
