What it does
Thermal Spacer Block Material (TSBM) is a thermal break that reduces heat loss at wall and roof purlin connections. It is installed between metal roof or wall panels and the purlins/girts to increase the thermal resistance of walls and roofs in metal buildings.
When to use it
- Between metal roof or wall panels and purlins/girts in metal buildings
- Wherever thermal spacer blocks are required by energy code
- In window sills, or as a buck for metal-framed window and door installations
Key benefits
- R-4.0 to R-5.4 per inch, with compressive strength up to 148 psi
- Conducts heat up to 5,500× less than aluminum, 1,400× less than steel and 22× less than concrete
- LBC Red List Free; mildew, mold and rot resistant
- Produced, manufactured and fabricated in the USA; complies with the Build America, Buy America Act
Format
Three grades, supplied in 4' × 8' sheets or cut to size, in thicknesses from ½" to 6":
- TSBM-30: R-5.4/in, 58 psi compressive (10% deflection), 29 psi shear
- TSBM-40: R-4.2/in, 83 psi compressive (10% deflection), 65 psi shear
- TSBM-60: R-4.0/in, 148 psi compressive (10% deflection), 95 psi shear
